Bijie Prefecture, located in the northwest of Guizhou Province, is an important traffic junction the borders of Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou Province. Its north and west neighing provinces are Sichuan and Yunnan. To the east, it will be Zunyi; to the West,it will be Guiyang.The average elevation is 1500 meters. Hezhang Jiucaiping is 2900.6 metres, the highest place;the lowest place is 457 metres. There are one city and seven counties in Bijie Area. They are respectively Bijie, Dafang，Qianxi，Jinsha, Zhijin, Nayong,Weiling, And Hezhang.The Total area is 26853 square meters. The whole year, the climate here is mild and warm. Average temperature is 13.09℃. At the end of 2005, the total population is 7260000.
In 1988, under the advocation of leader Hujintao, the year when Bijie was ratified by the State Council as an experiment zone for " expolitation, helping the poor and ecological construction". After all Bijie people's hard working, the prefecture has made great progress economy. At the end of 2005, the whole GDP reach 232 hundred billion Yuan, financial income34.8 hundred billion yuan,city and town living people could occupy 7225 yuan; farmers share net income 1876 yuan. At the economic amount and financial income list No.3 in the whole province. Industry composition has been changed from " 1,2,3" to " 2, 1, 3". Bijie Prefecture is abundant in many kinds of rich resources. First, we are rich in mineral products. Mild climate and unique Carst character made perfect biology system. In the whole area, there are many kins of plants, and among of them, they are precious types. Tianma, Dyzhong, Dangsheng, Banxia are popular in the overseas market. So , Bijie is called " Chinese herb Country". Right here, it is also the base of japan; walnut, tobacco; and poultry. We have famous " Zhijin Cave; Jiudongtian; Bailidujuan; national forest park.. And also " Weilin Grass sea,Sexiang Tomb, Dadubtusi Garden", they are important tourism part of West line tourism.
With the implement of West part construction, Bijie is facing another historic development opportunity. Country " West electricity transporting East part" Hongjiadu Power Station ( 3×200000 kilowalt); the Supfengying Power Station ( 3×200000 Kilowalt); Yingzidu Power station ( 3×120000 kilowalt); Qianbei Power Station ( 4×300000 kilowalt); Nayong Power Station( 4×300000 kilowalt) ; and we are busy building the second term Nayong Electricity factory ( 4×300000 kilowalt); Qianxi Electricity Factory ( 4×300000 kilowalt); Dafang Electricity Factory ( 4×300000 kilowalt); and planning Bijie Electricity factory ( 2×600000 kilowalt); Zhijin Electricity Factory ( 2×600000 kilowalt). When all these projects done, Bijie will become an very important field of " West electricity transporting East part". When it came to 2005, Bijie Prefecture Power Station is 5000000 kilowalt; when it comes to 2010, the whole prefecture will build 10000000 kilowalt water,fire ,electricity project.Now, Nayong Zhongling Coal mine ( 3000000 tons/ year); Nayong WulunMountain Coal Mine (4500000 tons/ year); Jinsha Longfeng Coal Mine ( 2400000 tons/ year); Zhijin Feitian Coal Mine ( 2400000 tons/ year) . These projects are being constructing and everything runs smoothly.
And the traffic conditions are being enhances as well. When we have built Guibi, Dana, Neikun, Tongxian railway, Tongxian Oil road done, the whole prefecture will have 12468.7 kilos. With the Huangzhi railway construction , planning Xiamen to Chengdu; Hangzhou to Ruili Speed Highway will be got started in 2007.This will tremendously improve Bijie Prefecture traffic condtion.
